Ball Python Morphs

Hey guys, this is my first post here. I handle reptiles frequently, as I work at a serpentarium, but I've only recently convinced my boyfriend to allow me to have a snake in the house. I had to start slow, with a big savannah monitor. ;)

Anyways, I had bought a male ball python as a gift for my brother, but now I'd like to buy a female to breed with him. I want to get a morph, but I'm torn between so many beautiful options. I'd love a piebald, but they're rather expensive. I was leaning towards a yellow-bellow, so I can breed out a few ivorys; however, I still want an axanthic, a bumblebee, or clown. Any breeders have any advice on what the best morph is for a new breeder?

Thanks guys!

Pieds can be found for reasonable prices, if you look around. You can also get Hets and work your way up, proving them out. I'm not familiar with "yellow bellows", but in case you meant, "yellow belly" ...be aware that they are not 100%, if both male and female don't have what it takes to produce Ivory (from the same proven line, and so forth). I just recently learned this, myself.

Depending on what your brother has, you could go with a Spider or a Pastel ..and start off slowly. Work your way up with your initial production ..to make some money for the more expensive morphs.

    Good Luck!

P.s. I think it's pretty funny that you started off with a Sav ..and will be moving up to a snake. LOL I love Savs, but they are NOT beginner lizards, by far ...and they can be quite aggro when they feel the itch. How does your BF like the Sav?
